The process of applying for a maid visa in Dubai can seem complicated, with many rules and requirements. You might end up spending hours making phone calls or searching online for complete and accurate information.
But today, you no longer have to waste time looking for answers. Excellence Tadbeer Center offers a full and detailed guide to all the necessary steps and conditions for issuing a maid visa and hiring domestic workers in Dubai and across the UAE.
Follow this step-by-step explanation of how to legally process a domestic worker visa under the sponsorship of our licensed Tadbeer center.
Steps to Apply for a Maid Visa in Dubai
Once you visit or contact Excellence Tadbeer Center, the maid visa process can begin immediately.
First, the required documents must be submitted by both the client and the maid, these include a passport copy, current visa (if any), personal photos, and email address.
After receiving the documents, Tadbeer initiates the maid visa UAE application, which typically takes 5 to 7 working days to be issued.
Following the visa issuance, we proceed with additional formalities such as change of status, settling fines (if any), and submitting a complete, official report to the client from the government system.
Afterward, the contract is signed, medical insurance is arranged, and all salary and employment details are confirmed.
Initial Payment & Visa Application Start
At the beginning of the maid visa process in Dubai, the client pays the full required amount plus VAT.
This amount covers all costs related to issuing the domestic worker visa.
Expected Visa Issuance Timeframe
The maid visa UAE usually takes 5 to 7 working days to be issued—assuming all documents are valid and clear.
We always recommend a buffer period of at least 15 days, especially for the “Change of Status” step, to avoid any delays.
Required Documents for Maid Visa UAE
From the maid (domestic helper)
- Clear passport copy
- Studio-style photo with a white background
From the client (sponsor)
- Passport copy
- Emirates ID
- Current UAE address
- Two contact numbers
⚠️ If any documents are unclear or expired, the visa process will be temporarily paused until valid versions are provided.
Change of Status & Fine Settlement
As part of the maid visa application process in Dubai, we submit a Change of Status request to activate the maid’s residency inside the UAE.
If there are any fines or immigration violations linked to the domestic worker’s file, the client is responsible for covering them.
✅ We will provide the client with an official report from the immigration system showing the fines to be paid before continuing the process.
Contract and Salary
Once the maid visa is issued, a legal contract is signed between the Tadbeer center (if it is the sponsor) and the client, with all terms clearly defined.
The client also signs a direct debit agreement or submits 24 postdated checks (covering 2 years) to ensure:
- Monthly salary payments for the domestic worker (via WPS – Wage Protection System)
- A monthly admin fee of AED 160 to Excellence Center
Salary Structure
- Filipino nationality: Minimum salary of AED 1,500/month
- Other nationalities: Minimum AED 900/month (paid via WPS); any additional salary can be paid in cash by the client.
What Does the Monthly AED 160 Fee Cover?
- Salary transfers via WPS
- Unemployment insurance (ILOE)
- Basic health insurance (valid for 2 years)
- Appointment scheduling for
- Medical fitness tests
- EID fingerprinting
Note: Transporting the maid to appointments is the client’s responsibility. However, we offer scheduled pickups from our center. A rescheduling fee may apply for missed appointments.
Medical Reminders and Vaccinations
After 6 months, the maid may receive an SMS reminder for a follow-up vaccination. The client is responsible for escorting her to the appointment.
Annual Leave
The domestic worker is legally entitled to 30 days of paid annual leave per year.
The client can either:
- Approve the vacation request and sign the form, or
- Defer leave until the end of the contract (2 years) and pay 22 days’ salary per year as part of the gratuity payment.
Annual Leave Pay Calculation (based on basic salary only)
AED 900 ÷ 30 × 22 = AED 660 per year
End of Service & Return Ticket
When the 2-year contract ends, the client can:
- Have the maid sign a confirmation that she has received her full entitlements (salary + leave + return ticket), OR
- Submit a security cheque of AED 5,000 to cover gratuity and a return ticket (if she chooses to leave the UAE permanently)
A return ticket is only mandatory if the maid requests a final exit from the UAE.
Maid Cancellation & Termination Policy
There are two cancellation scenarios—whether the maid was provided by the client or by Excellence Center—and in both cases, the visa is under Excellence Center sponsorship:
Case 1: Maid is under Excellence sponsorship but brought by the client.
The client provided the maid through an external contact (e.g., personal reference or another agency) and only requested Excellence to process the visa.
If the client wants to cancel:
- A cancellation fee of AED 120–140 is charged
- The client must notify us before the next salary cycle
- The maid does not return to Excellence Center
Case 2: Maid is both provided and sponsored by Excellence Center
The client selected the maid through our center, and the visa was also issued by us. The maid is fully under our management.
If the client wants to cancel:
- No cancellation fee
- The maid must be returned to Excellence Center
- We will decide whether to reassign, cancel her visa, or redeploy her
- Salary cycle and AED 160 monthly admin fee stop upon her return
Conclusion
Today, hiring a domestic worker in the UAE has become fast and easy. The maid visa process through Excellence Tadbeer Center can be completed in as little as one week.
